Viscosity Meter

Most of us know viscosity as how “thick” or “sticky” a liquid is. For example, honey has a high viscosity while water has a low viscosity.

However, the formal definition of viscosity is the “tendency of a fluid to resist shear stress”, and viscosity can actually be measured in Pascal-seconds [Pa-s]. How is this viscosity measured? In this build, we constructed our own apparatus designed to closely replicate Couette Flow conditions and calibrated the apparatus for accuracy using sample data. Full details are outlined in the report below!
